Types and Dimensions: The more popular type of large wooden coffee tables are generally made of mahogany, pinewood or oak with the tops coming in glass or marble available in the traditional square, round or rectangular shapes. The larger ones have dimensions of 840mm wide, 280mm high and 40mm deep and are large enough to hold a full tray of coffee as well as magazines and newspapers. Some of the much larger wooden coffee tables can be used even as a cabinet or side table and has the capacity to hold a number of items.
Osborne Wood Products gives designers, furniture makers, hobbyists, and homeowners the opportunity to truly express themselves in their furniture and home decor choices. Osborne carries a full line of wooden legs for coffee tables, as well as decorative turnings and carved legs in many other heights. Ideal for a Mission-style coffee table, tapered mission legs are available at a five inch width, creating the bold and strong look the Mission look calls for. A narrower taper is available without the recessed carving, creating a look that is more along the lines of the Shaker style. In addition, a variety of turnings are available, from the simple yet elegant English Country leg, to the more ornate Old World leg. For those occasions which call for something a little bit different, Osborne Wood Products is also more than happy to work with their customers to create custom wood legs.
Materials that are Inexpensive and Low-end- These tables are generally made from materials like: plywood, particle board, or MDF. These materials are typically light-weight compared to solid woods and may actually be hollow inside, so if under heavy use or moved around a lot, beware of puncturing or gouging the material as it will cause unsightly damage that is difficult to repair. While solid color or faux wood grain plastic laminate may coat plywood and particle board to create a smooth finish, MDF is already smooth and able to be painted. Square coffee tables made of these materials are typically inexpensive and will hold up to average, normal use, but be careful of heavy objects as they could cause the table to bow. Also, lighter weight materials may cause the table to slide out of place with a simple nudge. Lastly, check the finish/coating on top to assure it can withstand condensation from drinks that may cause water rings or stains. If there are no concerns with the above issues, an inexpensive coffee table may be right for you and your budget!
There are times when a cocktail table is just not enough there are times you‘d need coffee table sets to beautify your living spaces and complete the look that you‘re trying to achieve. This is because coffee table sets include one or two end tables and a cocktail table that complement each other thus enhancing the beauty of the room where they are located. For such combination, the most common material they are made from is wood such as mahogany, cherry, oak, teak, or pine. Not only is wood used for such table sets, glass, metal, stone such as slate and marble, and even strong and very durable plastics such as Lucite.
